The Four Pillars of Dominican Life

“Dominicans like other religious orders have built their unique expression of Christian spirituality on the foundation of a shared rule of life. For the individual Dominican, the rule of life provides a blueprint for perusing holiness and personal sanctification. Along with the four pillars and apostolic vows, the rule of life gives expression to a lifestyle that embraces both active engagement with Gospel proclamation and contemplative reflection of the Triune God. *” -The Rev. Dr. Kevin Goodrich, O.P.A

Prayer

Anglican Dominicans  develop a personal practice of contemplation. For Anglican Dominicans The Book of Common Prayer forms the structure of life for both personal and public prayer.

Community

Anglican Dominicans recognize that joining the order is like joining a family with diverse gifts and callings, and though we are a dispersed community, we form our community in other ways. Using the internet and regional meetings, our members form the bonds of the greater community

Study

Study is a very important part of the Anglican Dominicans Vocation. Anglican Dominicans believe that a disciplined study life can form a deeper devotion to God. Anglican Dominicans form their own study habits that fit their preaching and teaching schedules.

Preaching & Ministry

Anglican Dominicans are known by their mission to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is done both from the pulpit and in their daily life. The Anglican Dominicans make no distinction between lay and ordained members when it comes to preaching, because they are all called to be missionaries in their everyday walk of life.
